Dear Friends, Family, and Community,

We are reaching out with heavy hearts to share that our daughter, Tina, is currently fighting advanced cancer.

Her oncology team at The Ottawa Hospital has prescribed a targeted immunotherapy treatment that has shown strong survival benefits in clinical trials for her specific diagnosis. This treatment represents an important chance for Tina to fight her cancer.

Unfortunately, we have reached a devastating financial barrier.

Because the treatment is administered by IV in the hospital, it is not covered through regular prescription programs, and Tina’s private insurance does not cover it. Although the treatment has recently been approved in Canada for her cancer, public funding for the drug has not yet been approved.

Each dose costs $16,000 CAD, and Tina will need one dose every four weeks for the next two years, for a total cost of more than $400,000.

Tina received her first dose in August, and her second dose is scheduled for September 23rd. We are asking for your help to cover her immediate treatment costs and give her the best chance possible to continue this treatment.

We want Tina’s focus to be on healing, fighting this cancer, and spending time with her family, not worrying about how to pay for the medication keeping her alive.

Cancer does not wait for paperwork.
