Mike jurkas is a fellow Tbm patient. He went to Boston after many many delays to finally have his repair Tbm surgery done. He had his initial surgery at a hospital and it didn’t go very well. I met MIKE and Tiffany a few years ago. Tiffany has been Mike’s faithful companion and wife. She has watched over him and learned everything she could about Tbm to be the best support system to him.

Mike is a funny, hilariousIn love with his cat and wife kind of guy. They literally sold everything they had that they could to come to Boston to have surgery including some of his more funny T-shirts. Mike had Tbm plasty done in July. Unfortunately, he had many setbacks. He was put on ECMO which is a high form of life support that he was on for over 45 days. He has endured bronchoscopes every single day. His wife Tiffany has sat at his bed every single day seven days a week from 12 till 7 PM. She has prayed over him crying over him begged for him. The doctors are working around the clock to save him.

He has successfully been able to be weaned off ECMO and is now just on a regular life support system. This is huge progress for him. If he had been at any other hospital he surely would not be alive today. The team there is unparalleled in their ability to handle this. Mike has faced set back after setback after setback and still pulled through.

His kidneys have failed and he is on Dialysis and he is still on life-support but he is coming around. Tiffany and MIKE we’re only prepared to stay in Boston for two weeks. Possibly three weeks. It is now on their second month and funding is low. As you all know, those who helped me get to Boston in the first time it’s extraordinarily expensive. We have been finagling between host homes, hotels and anywhere else that Tiffany could go. She has run out of options for host homes at least for the next month or two and the hotels are an average $3000 a month.

we are trying to book her in a Partments and are actively looking for other options for her. I can’t imagine being so worried about my loved one and then having to worry about a roof over her head. About having food in about being able to get to the only person she loves more than anything in this world.

Mike’s road is going to be very long and arduous. Tiffany needs to be there to be his advocate. We are all heavily involved in this recovery. As a foundation, we do not and are not able to give our funding to individual families for housing since our money is for research and medical supplies.

This is why I’m coming to all of you. It cost about $150 a day for Tiffany to be in Boston including room and board. She doesn’t take an Uber or a taxi even in the rain she walks. Could you please help sick sure another month for Tiffany so that she can stay in Boston with Mike without being in fear of being food in house insecure?
