Together for Their Tomorrow—A Sister’s Hope(Redcliffe Storm)
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Kirstyn, and I’m reaching out to ask for help for my little sister and her partner Zac—two people who were just beginning their journey as a young family when the unthinkable happened.
They were living with our mum, saving and slowly preparing to welcome their first child into the world. Every spare dollar went toward baby items, furniture, and essentials. They were so excited—creating a life together, building a home, and looking forward to the future.
But on Saturday, April 12th, a devastating storm hit Redcliffe. While they were out, floodwaters swept through the ground floor unit where they lived. The water rose to nearly a matre high- up to the kitchen bench—destroying everything in its path.
When they returned, all they found was loss.
All that remains now is:
- A small suitcase with a few pieces of clothing
- Their baby’s ultrasound scans and journals
- A few parts of the crib they had just started to get for their baby
Everything else is gone:
Their bed, furniture, clothing, baby items, and even the last of their beloved cat’s medication.
- They’ve been told they likely won’t be able to return to the unit until after the baby is born. On top of this, even with insurance for storm coverage, the building will have an excess of $100,000. The three main damaged units will have to split and pay- $33,000 each.
They are trying to stay strong—but starting from scratch while preparing to bring a child into the world is incredibly hard. My sister has always been someone who helps others, never asks for anything, and always finds a way to keep going. But right now, she needs help.
So I’m humbly asking—please, if you can, help me support them.
We’re raising funds to help them:
- Replace basic furniture, clothing, and personal items
- Purchase baby essentials and nursery items
Any amount you can give—no matter how small—will help give them a fresh start. And if you’re not able to donate, sharing this means just as much.
Let’s show this young couple that they’re not alone—that even in the middle of loss, community and kindness can carry them through.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
