Together, for the Hammonds

In early November 2024 my sister Maddi started experiencing severe breathlessness. The smallest of tasks taking her breath away and becoming extremely light headed. She got to a point she wasn’t even able to pick up her 17 month old son.

On 3rd December I called an ambulance for her unknowingly that this would alter the course of her life. After multiple tests Maddi was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension affecting the blood pressure to and from her heart and lungs.

On Friday 6th December while undergoing a test in hospital Maddison went into cardiac arrest and has been placed on life support with machines supporting her lungs and heart.

On Sunday 8th December she was taken via helicopter to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.

While she is currently in a stable condition and already proving her strength whereby her heart is improving the road ahead is long and uncertain.

Maddi is a devoted mother to her baby Reid, loving partner to her fiancée Joel and a cherished part of her community.

I have received a flood of messages asking on ways to support Maddi, Joel and Reid on their journey ahead. I have therefore created this go fund me for those who wish to contribute to assist Joel with his commute to and from Sydney to be by Maddi’s side, day to day costs and bills.
