Together for the Ellett’s: A Call for Love and Support

Donation protected
There’s a saying that goes, “It takes a village” and it’s time for the village to come together in support of a family who has always shown up for everyone else.

I’m reaching out to you today as a close friend of Sheila and Howard Ellett, a couple who have given so much to the community and now find themselves facing unimaginable challenges. Howard was born and raised in Burnet, while Sheila returned to this town she loves at just 20 years old. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising their children here and running a charming cabinet and wildlife businesses since 2001. Their dedication to their craftsmanship and their love for others shines through in everything they do.

But life has taken a heartbreaking turn. On May 14th, Howard was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, which has metastasized to his liver. This diagnosis has turned their world upside down, requiring two chemotherapy treatments every month that are both emotionally and physically exhausting. Each session is accompanied by a pump that administers chemotherapy for 48 hours, leaving Howard fighting not only the disease but also its daunting side effects. Every three months, the stress of awaiting CT scan results adds to their anxiety as they hope for positive news.

In addition to Howard's battle, Sheila has faced her own hardships. On April 21st, she underwent a total hysterectomy due to a uterine prolapse, leaving her unable to work alongside Howard during this critical time. The weight of these health issues has created a significant financial burden on their family, especially since Sheila’s mother, Linda Bristow, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of November and had to endure a double mastectomy on January 13th.

As a self-employed family, Sheila and Howard have been unable to keep their cabinet and wildlife businesses afloat during these trying months. They have always been the first to offer help and support to others, and now they need our help.

This GoFundMe campaign serves as a lifeline. We can come together as their village to alleviate some of the financial pressures they’re facing and provide them the space to focus on healing and recovery. Every dollar, every share, and every word of encouragement will help lift their spirits as they navigate through these difficult times.

Let’s show Sheila and Howard that they are not alone and that they have an army of support behind them. Thank you for taking the time to read their story and for considering contributing to their journey toward healing.

With all my love and gratitude,

-Danielle Marie
