My sister, Shannon Hoffman, has been diagnosed with lung, liver and bone cancer. As you can imagine, this has turned her world upside down. Shannon is a mother of three — two grown children; my niece Kelsey and nephew Shane and one currently in college; my nephew Jacob. She is now unable to work due to the grueling treatments and the debilitating effects of her illness.

While she qualifies for disability benefits, they won't be available for another four months, and even then, they won't cover all her expenses. Shannon needs immediate support for her daily living expenses — food, gas, household bills, car insurance and phone costs. We, as her immediate family, are helping the best we can, both financially and in other ways, but it’s not enough to meet all her needs now and in the coming months.

The road ahead is long and uncertain, but with your help, we can ensure she has fewer worries and can focus on her healing journey.
