On December 1, our sweet baby boy, Rhett, will undergo open-heart surgery to repair a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. This surgery is a major step in Rhett’s journey, and while we know he’s strong and surrounded by love, it’s still an incredibly difficult and emotional time for our family.
Rhett has already shown us what a fighter he is. He spent three weeks in the NICU after birth due to complications from his heart condition and Down syndrome, and now we’re preparing for another hospital stay — expected to be around two weeks following surgery.
We’ve created this GoFundMe to help ease the financial strain during this time. Both Mom and Dad will need to take time off work to be by Rhett’s side, but unfortunately, we don’t have paid time off available. The funds raised will help cover:
• Lost wages during Rhett’s surgery and recovery
• Medical expenses not covered by insurance
• Therapies and developmental supports not fully covered through Medicaid, the Katie Beckett program, or Birth to 3
• Travel and hospital-related costs (parking, food, meals, etc.)
• Household bills and our mortgage while we’re away from work focusing on Rhett’s healing
Your support — whether through donations, prayers, or simply sharing Rhett’s story — means more to us than words can express. Every bit helps us stay by our baby boy’s side as he faces this big milestone in his journey.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us and for Rhett.
