"Michelle, why are you crying?", I said. "I just got out of the Doctor and he gave me some bad news", answered Michelle. "What do you mean, I thought this was going to be a pretty routine thing, in and out same day with just a little bit of recovery", I said. "Michael, it seems that this thing got even more complicated", Michelle said. I hang up the phone and here I am a week and a half later humbly reaching out to all of you for some help. It's been an eventful few months at our home. Our daughter was born 7 weeks ago, I lost my job 4 weeks ago, and obviously we have the above information to contend with. When Michelle found out she was pregnant, it came along with the news that there are cancer cells on her cervix and that her IUD birth control had migrated into her abdomen to a potentially dangerous place for her and the baby within her. Both the cancer cells and the migrated IUD needed surgery right away but neither was possible because she found out at the same time that she was pregnant. Our daughter was born beautiful and healthy, and for this we are grateful. My next step is to get Michelle back on track. It's very unfortunate that the doctor's report indicated a high risk for this surgery. As much as we tried to reposition our questions to coax more optimism out of the Doctor, instead the cold truth remained in the answers. There is a high risk for internal bleeding, permanent organ damage and internal infection. I obviously have to make sure that we get these two surgeries done, we scheduled them for early January. I'm just going to be direct, even at the risk of personal embarrassment, I can't afford this surgery on top of the pregnancy, labor and delivery bills, and loss of my job, and caring for our three children. If you're in a position to help financially, may I please have your help so that together we can help Michelle.
