Together for Ma’Shondis Foster: A Fight for Life and Love

Da’Shandas’s daughter, Ma’Shondis, took a hard fall, and on June 6th, her health began to decline. What seemed like a minor head injury quickly turned into something far more serious. Days later, Ma’Shondis started experiencing severe headaches. After being misdiagnosed and sent home, she was eventually rushed back to the hospital.

Doctors discovered a serious and rapidly spreading sinus infection had reached her brain. Emergency brain surgery to reduce the swelling was the only option to save her life. Since then, she has undergone several additional surgeries to drain and open her sinuses, along with multiple MRIs and CT scans. There are still other medical challenges she is facing.

Ma’Shondis is 10 years old and going to the 5th grade. Before her injury, she was full of life, laughter, and dreams, a joy to everyone around her. But right now, Ma’Shondis is fighting to recover, on a ventilator, surrounded by machines, and wrapped in the unwavering love of her mother.

Da’Shandas is a single mom navigating this crisis without a partner or consistent support and uncertain how she will cover mounting medical bills, time off work, travel expenses, and basic needs during this difficult time. She has two other children at home to care for and has been by her daughter’s bedside every day, holding her hand, praying, and doing everything in her power to keep going.

When Ma’Shondis returns home, she will need physical therapy, speech therapy, as well as ongoing care.

I’m starting this fundraiser to support this family through what no parent should have to face alone. Every dollar raised will go directly to Da’Shandas Femister for medical expenses, housing, food, travel, and anything else needed while her daughter fights for her life.

Let her body find the strength to fight, and her spirit the peace to rest.
