Together for Marley: Give Him a Chance for a Pain-Free Life

Hello everyone,

We are Marley and Ailyn, and today I want to share with you the story of an extraordinary dog who needs your help.

Marley’s journey began in the streets of southern Italy, where he, along with two other puppies, was abandoned in a trash can. Thankfully, he was rescued, and ever since, he has lived in a loving home full of adventure and care.

Now 6 years old, Marley is an energetic, curious, and loving companion. He is by my side through everything, always eager to explore new places. One of our most unforgettable adventures was a bike trip with his dog friend Mala, from South Tyrol to Croatia. We rode through beautiful landscapes, swam in the sea, and met countless wonderful people. That journey was one of the happiest times in our lives. 

Marley is incredibly sensitive, friendly, and has a calming presence that can make anyone feel at ease. His gentle nature led him to begin training as a therapy dog. While he couldn’t complete the training due to health issues, he still made a tremendous impact on autistic children, bringing comfort and support to those in need.

Unfortunately, Marley suffers from hip dysplasia (HD) on both sides. This condition causes his hip joints to form incorrectly, and it has progressively worsened over time.

A few years ago, Marley had a TPLO surgery (Photo after the procedure can be found in the attachment), which helped him for three years and gave him a much-improved quality of life. However, his hip issues have returned with a vengeance. Right now, Marley is struggling to walk and is in constant pain that he hides from most people, as many dogs do. I can see the pain in his eyes when he tries to stand, struggling to find his balance.

Despite our best efforts with physiotherapy and pain management, Marley’s condition has reached a point where he needs hip replacement surgery on both sides. This surgery offers him the real chance of relief, a pain-free life, and a future full of happy moments again.

I believe this surgery is the best option for Marley. He’s proven that he’s strong and resilient, and after his first surgery, he was able to recover well. Though the surgery and recovery will be challenging, I know Marley is mentally strong, and I am confident that he will come through this with the love and support he deserves. Many dogs see incredible improvements in their quality of life after such procedures, and I trust that Marley will too.

Here are the details for his upcoming surgery:

• The total cost for the surgeries is €8,700. First, the left hip will be operated on, followed by the right after a few months.

• Radiography for the prosthesis and sedation costs €200.

• Blood tests will cost €100.

= The total cost for everything is €9,000 

I understand that this is a significant financial burden, but Marley’s health and happiness mean everything to me. When I took him in, I committed to being his guardian, and I am determined to give him the best chance at a happy, pain-free life. I will not abandon him to suffer.

Marley deserves so much more than the pain he’s enduring right now. He deserves to run, to play, to live the full, joyful life he’s always wanted.

 Hallo zusammen, 

wir sind Marley und Ailyn, und heute möchte ich euch die Geschichte eines außergewöhnlichen Hundes erzählen, der eure Hilfe braucht. 

Marleys Reise begann auf den Straßen Süditaliens, wo er zusammen mit zwei weiteren Welpen in einem Mülleimer ausgesetzt wurde. 

Zum Glück wurde er gerettet, und seitdem lebt er in einem liebevollen Zuhause voller Fürsorge und Abenteuer.  

Heute ist Marley 6 Jahre alt – ein energiegeladener, neugieriger und liebevoller Begleiter. Er ist immer an meiner Seite und voller Entdeckerfreude. 

Eine unserer unvergesslichsten Erlebnisse war eine Fahrradtour mit seinem Hundefreund Mala – von Südtirol bis nach Kroatien. Wir fuhren durch atemberaubende Landschaften, schwammen im Meer und trafen zahlreiche wunderbare Menschen. 

 Marley ist unglaublich sensibel, freundlich und hat eine beruhigende Ausstrahlung, die jedem ein Lächeln ins Gesicht zaubern kann. Seine sanfte Art führte dazu, dass er mit einer Ausbildung zum Therapiehund begann. Obwohl er die Ausbildung aufgrund gesundheitlicher Probleme nicht abschließen konnte, hatte er bereits einen großen positiven Einfluss auf autistische Kinder – er spendete Trost und Nähe genau dort, wo sie gebraucht wurden. 

Leider leidet Marley unter beidseitiger Hüftdysplasie (HD). Dabei sind seine Hüftgelenke fehlgebildet – ein Zustand, der sich mit der Zeit deutlich verschlimmert hat. Vor einigen Jahren hatte Marley eine TPLO-Operation (ein Foto nach dem Eingriff findet ihr im Anhang), die ihm drei Jahre lang spürbare Erleichterung brachte und seine Lebensqualität stark verbesserte. 

Doch nun sind seine Hüftprobleme mit voller Wucht zurückgekehrt. 

Aktuell fällt ihm das Gehen sehr schwer, und er leidet unter ständigen Schmerzen – Schmerzen, die er wie viele Hunde nach außen kaum zeigt. Ich sehe es in seinen Augen, wenn er versucht aufzustehen, wenn er sein Gleichgewicht sucht und kaum findet. Trotz intensiver Physiotherapie und Schmerzbehandlung hat sich sein Zustand so weit verschlechtert, dass nur noch eine beidseitige Hüftprothese helfen kann. 

Diese Operation gibt ihm die reale Chance auf ein schmerzfreies Leben und viele weitere glückliche Jahre. Ich bin überzeugt, dass dies die beste Option für Marley ist. 

Er hat schon einmal bewiesen, wie stark und widerstandsfähig er ist – nach seiner ersten Operation konnte er sich sehr gut erholen. 

Auch wenn der Eingriff und die anschließende Heilungszeit herausfordernd sein werden, weiß ich, dass Marley mental stark ist. 

Mit der Liebe und Unterstützung, die er verdient, wird er auch das schaffen. 

Viele Hunde erleben nach solchen Eingriffen eine deutliche Verbesserung ihrer Lebensqualität – und ich glaube fest daran, dass auch Marley dazu gehören wird. 

 Hier sind die Kosten im Überblick: 

 • Gesamtkosten der beiden Operationen: 8.700 € (Zuerst wird die linke Hüfte operiert, einige Monate später folgt die rechte.) 

 • Röntgen und Sedierung für die Prothesenanpassung: 200 € 

 • Blutuntersuchungen: 100 €

 = Gesamtkosten: 9.000 € 

Ich weiß, dass das eine große finanzielle Belastung ist, aber Marleys Gesundheit und Glück bedeuten mir alles. 

Als ich ihn aufgenommen habe, habe ich ihm versprochen, für ihn da zu sein – und ich werde alles tun, um ihm ein glückliches, schmerzfreies Leben zu ermöglichen. 

Ich werde ihn nicht im Stich lassen. Marley verdient so viel mehr als den Schmerz, den er momentan ertragen muss. Er verdient es, zu rennen, zu spielen, zu leben – so wie jeder andere glückliche Hund. 

Eure Unterstützung bedeutet uns die Welt. Jeder noch so kleine Beitrag kann Marley helfen, wieder schmerzfrei und glücklich zu leben.

Ciao a tutti, 

siamo Marley e Ailyn, e oggi voglio raccontarvi la storia di un cane straordinario che ha bisogno del vostro aiuto. 

Il viaggio di Marley è iniziato per le strade del sud Italia, dove è stato abbandonato in un cassonetto insieme ad altri due cuccioli. Per fortuna è stato salvato e da allora vive in una casa piena di amore, cura e avventura. 

Oggi Marley ha 6 anni – è un compagno pieno di energia, curiosità e affetto. È sempre al mio fianco, desideroso di scoprire il mondo. 

Uno dei nostri ricordi più belli è stato un viaggio in bicicletta con il suo amico cane Mala – da Alto Adige fino alla Croazia. Abbiamo attraversato paesaggi mozzafiato, nuotato nel mare e incontrato tantissime persone meravigliose. 

Marley è incredibilmente sensibile, dolce e ha una presenza rassicurante che fa sentire bene chiunque gli stia vicino. La sua natura gentile lo ha portato a iniziare la formazione come cane da terapia. Anche se, a causa di problemi di salute, non ha potuto completarla, ha già avuto un impatto enorme su bambini autistici, offrendo loro conforto e affetto proprio nei momenti di maggiore bisogno.  

Purtroppo Marley soffre di displasia dell’anca bilaterale. Le sue articolazioni dell’anca sono malformate, e la situazione è peggiorata nel tempo. Alcuni anni fa, Marley ha subito un intervento TPLO (potete vedere una foto dopo l’operazione nell’allegato), che gli ha regalato tre anni di vita con meno dolore e una qualità della vita molto migliorata. 

Ma ora i problemi all’anca sono tornati con forza. Oggi Marley fatica molto a camminare ed è afflitto da dolori costanti – dolori che, come molti cani, tende a nascondere. Ma io li vedo nei suoi occhi ogni volta che cerca di alzarsi e non riesce a trovare l’equilibrio.  

Nonostante fisioterapia intensiva e farmaci, la sua condizione si è aggravata al punto che solo una doppia protesi d’anca può davvero aiutarlo. 

Questa operazione è la sua reale possibilità per tornare a una vita senza dolore e a tanti altri anni felici. 

Sono convinta che questa sia la soluzione migliore per Marley. Ha già dimostrato quanto sia forte e resiliente – dopo la prima operazione si è ripreso molto bene. Anche se l’intervento e il periodo di recupero saranno impegnativi, so che Marley ha una grande forza interiore. 

Con l’amore e il supporto che merita, ce la farà. Molti cani hanno miglioramenti incredibili dopo questo tipo di intervento – e io credo con tutto il cuore che anche Marley potrà tornare a vivere felice. 

Ecco una panoramica dei costi: 

 • Costo totale per i due interventi: 8.700 € (Prima verrà operata l’anca sinistra, poi – dopo alcuni mesi – quella destra.) 

• Radiografia e sedazione per la protesi: 200 € 

• Esami del sangue: 100 €

So che si tratta di una spesa importante, ma la salute e la felicità di Marley per me valgono tutto. 

Quando l’ho accolto, gli ho promesso che sarei stata sempre al suo fianco – e farò tutto il possibile per garantirgli una vita serena, senza dolore. 

Marley merita molto più del dolore che sta sopportando. Merita di correre, di giocare, di vivere pienamente – come ogni altro cane felice. 

Il vostro aiuto significa il mondo per noi. Anche un piccolo contributo può aiutare Marley a tornare a vivere senza dolore e con gioia.
