Update: In Loving Memory of Johnny Watkins
On July 18, 2025, my beloved husband Johnny peacefully went home to be with the Lord. He passed away at home, holding my hand and his Bible — a symbol of the faith he carried with him every day of his life.
Johnny’s battle with cancer is over. He is no longer in pain. I find peace knowing he is now walking the streets of gold with Jesus, whole and healed in His presence.
My heart is broken. The love of my life is no longer by my side, but his legacy lives on. Johnny touched countless lives — not only as a devoted husband, a hard-working man, and a loyal friend — but most of all as a man of faith. Everywhere he went, he talked about the Lord. Whether it was at work, at church, or even in the hospital, he never missed an opportunity to share God’s love and lead others to Christ.
So many have asked how they can help during this time. In lieu of flowers, I kindly ask that any gifts or support be made as a donation toward the many expenses we now face. Your generosity, prayers, and love mean more than I can express, and I am deeply grateful for each of you.
Please continue to keep me and our family in your prayers in the days ahead.
With Love
Tonya Watkins
Hello,
My name is Tonya Watkins, and I am writing to ask for your help during a very difficult time for our family. My beloved husband, John (Johnny) Watkins, was diagnosed in April 2024 with stage four metastatic colon cancer. This aggressive cancer has spread to his liver, lymph nodes, and lungs, turning our world upside down.
Johnny is not just my husband; he is the cornerstone of our family. He is a devoted father to four children and a proud grandfather to five wonderful grandchildren. Johnny has always been a pillar of strength and a source of unwavering support for everyone around him. He has spent his career as a diesel technician, ensuring the safety and reliability of countless vehicles and equipment, and he has also served as a preacher, providing spiritual guidance and comfort to many in our community.
Our family's journey over the past few years has been incredibly challenging. In addition to Johnny's recent diagnosis, I am a survivor of two brain tumors. These experiences have taught us resilience, but they have also strained our resources and tested our endurance. Despite these hardships, Johnny has always remained positive and steadfast, providing for our family and offering his love and support to others.
I'm sorry to share this news, but we are creating this GoFundMe page to rally support from friends, family, and even strangers who want to help. Johnny is an incredible person who has positively impacted so many lives, and now he needs our help. The financial burden of his medical expenses is overwhelming. We are facing significant costs for treatments, medications, and frequent travel to specialized medical facilities. The last thing I want is for Johnny to worry about how we will afford his treatment while he is fighting for his life.
We are reaching out for assistance to cover these medical expenses and support our family during this challenging time. Your donations will directly fund Johnny's medical care and associated costs, allowing us to focus on supporting him through this battle. Any amount you can give will make a profound difference, and if you are unable to donate, sharing our story with others would also be greatly appreciated.
Johnny has always been a fighter, and with your support, we believe he can face this challenge with the same strength and determination that have defined his life. Our family is incredibly grateful for your generosity, prayers, and encouragement during this trying time. If you are unfamiliar with how to donate through GoFundMe, please feel free to reach out to me on Facebook or Via Email [email redacted] , and I will provide you with an alternative way to contribute.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Sincerely,
Tonya Watkins and Family
