Together for James: A Strong Recovery Ahead

My name is Stephanie Valdez. My 15 year old James Romero was involved in a vehicle accident on 9/21 which has left him fighting for his life. He was unconscious upon arrival to the hospital and was intubated. He suffered a shattered left leg, shattered pelvis, all the arteries in his leg ruptured causing him to bleed out all his own blood multiple times. I have been blessed thus far that he is still here today, fighting. He has undergone 22+ hours of surgery since 9/21 8pm and he will be going into surgery again today. Unfortunately, James had to have his left leg amputated above the knee after several attempts to save it. After the amputation his kidneys failed and he was placed on dialysis. The arteries have since been repaired. He still has multiple surgeries ahead and they are trying to get his vitals stable. As Drs say, he is not out of the woods yet but he has exceeded their expectations and survived what most wouldnt. He is a strong boy and putting up the fight and he will continue to fight. I was informed last night he is in possible septic shock, they were able to stabolize him but they are trying to locate the infection. Yesterday he was removed from the sedative but is still on intubation. I called his name and my baby opened his eyes, moved his leg, attempted to lift his head and mouthed 'I love you' back to me. I have faith and hope and I know my baby is going to pull through. Whether you pray, send good/positive vibes his way, whatever it is please send some his way as he is still fighting life threatening inuries. I love my son with all I have got and I need him here with me. I am dying inside without him. I cant wait to hold him, hug him, talk with him and make more memories. He is my world and the air I breathe. He is my heart on the outside of my chest. There is a long road of care and recovery ahead but he has a tremendous support team and we will be by his side every step of the way. He has an amazing team of Drs and my son is a strong young boy and will overcome this trauma and will thrive. ❤️
