Hi everyone,

In September 2025, our 14-year-old son Esteban began experiencing severe pain in his left arm. At first, we thought it was just soreness from his gym workouts. But after seeing a physiotherapist and then going to the hospital, an X-ray revealed something far more serious: Esteban was diagnosed with bone cancer.

He started chemotherapy on November 1st, and his treatment will last between 9 and 12 months, followed by surgery to remove the tumor. It’s been a whirlwind of tests, hospital visits, and emotional ups and downs — but Esteban is facing it all with incredible courage.

Why We Need Your Help

We live in Victoria, BC, but Esteban’s treatment is in Vancouver, which means traveling several times a month. While the Government of Canada covers the core treatment, many other costs are not:

* Medications not fully covered

* Ferry rides, gas, and hotel stays

* Daily living expenses while one of us stays with Esteban full-time

Some institutions are helping with medication costs, and we’re grateful for a travel assistance program. But Esteban can’t go through this alone — chemotherapy weakens him, and he needs his mom, Ivette, by his side every step of the way.

Esteban loves playing soccer — it’s his passion and joy. Right now, he can’t play due to his condition, but we’re holding onto hope that with the right care and support, he’ll be back on the field doing what he loves most.

Hola a todos,

En septiembre de 2025, nuestro hijo Esteban, de 14 años, comenzó a sentir un dolor intenso en el brazo izquierdo. Al principio pensamos que era solo una molestia por sus entrenamientos en el gimnasio. Pero después de consultar a un fisioterapeuta y acudir al hospital, una radiografía reveló algo mucho más grave: a Esteban le diagnosticaron cáncer de hueso.

Comenzó la quimioterapia el 1 de noviembre, y su tratamiento durará entre 9 y 12 meses, seguido de una cirugía para remover el tumor. Han sido semanas llenas de pruebas, visitas al hospital y altibajos emocionales — pero Esteban enfrenta todo con una valentía increíble.

Por qué necesitamos tu ayuda

Vivimos en Victoria, BC, pero el tratamiento de Esteban es en Vancouver, lo que implica viajar varias veces al mes. Aunque el Gobierno de Canadá cubre el tratamiento principal, hay muchos otros gastos que no están incluidos:

Esteban ama jugar fútbol — es su pasión y su alegría. Por ahora no puede jugar debido a su condición, pero mantenemos la esperanza de que con el cuidado y apoyo adecuados, volverá a la cancha haciendo lo que más le gusta.
