Currently, 23% of the population in Mexico is under the age of 14, and around 2.5 million children between 5 and 17 years old are engaged in child labor. As of 2000, the school dropout rate was 45% for students before the end of secondary school (18 years) and in 2011, it was estimated that 30,000 children and adolescents were part of a criminal organization. Although recent official figures are difficult to obtain, several civil organizations estimate that numbers have worsened.

Since 2012 Together For Children ASBL has developed divers programs to secure nutrition, emotional healing, education, extra curricular support and proper infrastructure for over 600 families in North of Mexico. These actions help reduce risk of school dropout.

Although today I live in France I want to help my dear friend Lluvia Escalona, the funder of Together for Children, who from Luxembourg continues to give hope to so many families in my loved country Mexico.

The next 5th October, the members of Together For Children organization based in Luxembourg will run 5km in Walferdange to raise funds to continue their activities in 2026.
