First representing Moneyfields in 2019/20, Beth Burgess returned to the club in 2022/23 after a two-year stint with Loughborough Lightning.
A dynamic and versatile player, Burgess has excelled both as a full-back and centre-back during her time at the Moneys, while also thriving further forward as a winger. Known for her ability to dribble with the ball, she combines intelligent movement with excellent delivery, consistently creating opportunities and influencing the game at both ends of the pitch.
Sadly, during the last game of the season, against Swindon Town, Beth suffered a ruptured Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), an injury that has now brought her football journey to an unexpected end.
She explains, "Football has been my life since I was five years old, starting my journey at AFC Portchester and including a stint with Chelsea, which was a superb experience for me. For years, the game gave me purpose, unforgettable memories, friendships, and a passion that shaped who I am.
"After a difficult decision, I have had to retire from the sport I’ve loved my entire life. I now face surgery and a long road to recovery, both physically and emotionally. I’m asking for support to help cover the costs of surgery, rehabilitation, and the challenges that are ahead. Although my playing days are over, football will always be a part of me, and next season I’ll proudly be Moneyfields Women’s top supporter from the sidelines."
Any donation, share, or message of support truly means the world to Beth. She's given a lot for this sport over the years
