Meet Baby Alex, the adorable 11-month-old son of Clifford Odhiambo and Maureen Magelo.
I’m Peter Magelo, Alex’s uncle, reaching out with a heartfelt plea.
On October 19, 2023, Alex was diagnosed with Leukemia, just three days shy of turning 11 months old.
We quickly arranged for treatment in India, where further tests confirmed the diagnosis as Pro B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) MLL rearranged.
Thankfully, the new NEJM protocol that includes the groundbreaking Blinatumomab monoclonal antibody was approved this year for use in infants. This greatly improves prognosis for this particular rearrangement.
Beginning chemotherapy in November, Alex has been a super champ and displayed incredible resilience through treatment.
We have great news!!! Our Alex has achieved MRD negative status after induction!
We are now progressing to the next stages in the protocol with the added antibody.
We humbly ask our community of friends for support for our super champ! Every contribution, big or small, takes us closer to our goal, helping cover medical expenses and the crucial purchase of Blinatumomab.
