Hi my name is Krystina and I am Ava’s mum! Could you help Ava Get Her Independence
Ava has an extremely rare mitochondrial condition called PPA2 — only five known cases in the UK. When she was just 16 months old, she went into heart failure and suffered a massive stroke while on life support, leaving her with cerebral palsy.
Despite being told she’d never walk again, Ava amazed everyone by taking her first steps just nine months later. She’s full of determination, but her condition causes fatigue, muscle weakness, and balance issues, so she often needs her wheelchair to stay safe and conserve energy.
Now, as Ava starts secondary school, she dreams of having a lightweight electric wheelchair that will give her the independence and confidence to move around safely, keep up with her friends, and enjoy school life to the fullest.
In Spring 2026, Ava and I will be taking on a 10K London Landmarks Walk, starting from the Royal Brompton Hospital, passing Buckingham Palace, through St James’s Park, past Big Ben, and finishing by the London Eye.
Ava will be in her current self-propelled wheelchair, and I’ll be pushing her every step of the way. Together, we’re taking on this challenge to raise funds for something life-changing — a new electric wheelchair that will give Ava the freedom, comfort, and independence she truly deserves.
Her current chair limits how far she can go on her own, but with an electric wheelchair, Ava will be able to move freely, explore, and enjoy life without barriers.
Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to seeing Ava roll independently into a brighter, more confident future.
Thank you for your kindness, love, and support — it means the world to both of us.
Thank you ☺️
