Rebuilding Appalachia: Help after Helene
Donation protected
The Jim Boyle Design crew is teaming up with our friend Scott Osgood to offer our skills and knowledge to assist in rebuilding areas affected by hurricane Helene. Over 126,000 homes were damaged in the storm in late September, and thousands of those were completely destroyed, particularly in Appalachian regions of NC, VA, KY, and TN. The restoration and rebuilding required for these communities will take many years to complete.
Mr. Osgood has procured a trailer and generator for our trip through the generous contributions of industry friends, mason Bobby Webb and painter Jack Lebranche. He has done a lion’s share of the legwork in securing the necessary supplies for this trip—but we will require additional funds in order to offer the help of our whole crew on this project. That’s where you come in!
Any contribution you can make, large or small, will help push us closer to bringing our expertise to people in crisis. We estimate the cost of our assistance to be $9,000. These funds will help to cover pay for our crew labor, materials, fuel/travel expenses, and room & board for the week. We will be collaborating with the Appalachia Service Project to be placed in a community in need. They have been repairing and replacing homes in Central Appalachia for over 50 years, and they rely on a network of volunteers to help low income individuals get back into safe, secure homes. We will also work with ASP to find reduced housing rates and keep the cost of our trip low. In the event that the funds we raise exceed the realized cost of our trip, all remaining proceeds will be donated to the families we work with in the form of gift cards for unexpected materials and costs that arise in their rebuilding project. If you can, please consider donating to help Scott, Shaun, James, and myself in our efforts to help fellow Americans in their time of need. If you are not able to contribute at this time, it would be so helpful if you shared this with your networks! Thank you for considering.
