Together for Ann: Uplifting Through Hard Times
Donation protected
Imagine being told you have cancer and then denied further information or any form of treatment without paying thousands of dollars out of pocket. That’s what happened to Ann Sanicola.
Ann Sanicola is a true Renaissance woman. After her successful career in the finance industry ended, she turned her broad skills as a jewelry and metal artist into her new career and launched Ann Sanicola Jewelry, all while raising two children. In 2018, Ann’s husband, Ron, retired from his job in upstate New York and they moved to the Tucson-Cochise area. Here, Ann sculpted mixed metal statement pieces, desert-themed holiday ornaments, and commissions for delighted customers around the world.
Unfortunately, 2020 and the ensuing pandemic were devastating to small businesses, especially jewelry and gifts- Ann’s bread and butter. As revenue dropped off, Ann continued to seek new opportunities to market her jewelry and kept Ann Sanicola Jewelry going through the hardest financial times she thought she would ever see.
Sadly, after four years of scraping by, Ann has been diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Not only that but she has been denied full care or access to full information about her diagnosis until she pays large bills with several providers.
Ann is currently uninsured. While she was struggling to keep her business afloat, she was unable to pay for medical insurance. She will be able to enroll in an exchange plan in January that will cover many of her medical needs. However, she will still need support with the expenses of travel.
There are people around the world who know and love Ann who all want the best for her. Right now, the thing she needs most is a real shot at recovery and she can’t get that without paying the first round of bills. That’s where you come in.
Ann lives 75mile/1.5 hours from Tucson, where she receives care. The oncologist’s fee is $200 per visit. Each trip requires half a tank of gas, wear and tear on her car, and food on top of all that. When she needs labs or an overnight stay, the expenses will increase drastically.
This fundraiser is designed to support her with the financial burden of treatment, travel costs associated with accessing care, and the costs of enrolment in an exchange plan in January. Any donations or heartfelt shares are deeply appreciated.
