Together for a greener world.
Here, there, everywhere.
And that it remains so.

This is the story of Ismaila Badji. A person who is so incredibly dedicated to his mission to make the world more inclusive, greener, healthier, self-sufficient and just.
Ismaila, a true naturalist and ambassador and connoisseur who feels the importance of energetic, healthy food and thus life to his deepest soul. A knowledgeable hard worker who puts his whole body and mind, day in and out, to make his dream Yentamay in Senegal come true.
That dream that touches us all.

Please, read on..

As a 9-year-old boy, I learned at my father's side how to work on the land. I observed and received his wisdom. Which he in turn, obtained from his father. Even during my school days, I supported my father in growing vegetables, fruits, plants and different types of trees.
My mother's father was a traditional healer. I was regularly sent out into the forest to look for leaves and other elements to use as medicine. So from an early age, I have been one with nature. And I cherish everything the elders transmitted to me. From generation to generation we live on.

I grew up in Casamance. The south of Senegal. Where the soil is fertile. But temperatures are rising, the heat gets more intense every year. Less rainfall comes our way.
Still, I manage to grow trees and plants of all different kinds and give them a home.
Perseverance, patience, trust, passion.
Trees, they wake me up.
They bring us knowledge, oxygen, shade, medicine, playfulness, food, love. They let us gather and heal.
Trees are the symbol of life.

I see around me that many people are losing touch with nature. Which has consequences for climate change and thus human welfare.
It is my mission to make people realise that we are nature.
That there lies the source of the whole. I believe in the power of one. Like trees who connect deep underground and reach far into the sky.

YENTAMAY
Yentamay is Diola, the language of my tribe. Yentamay means soil.

Yentamay is located in Mampalago in Casamance, in the department of Bignona, Senegal. It is an organic fruit, vegetable, medicinal plant and tree project on 4.5 acres of land.

With Yentamay in Mampalago, Casamance, Senegal, we are contributing to a greener world.
A healthier, more inclusive, diverse and equitable environment for the people of the village and surrounding area and beyond.
Biodiversity will increase thanks to the trees and plants that will host the micro-organisms that will contribute to achieving this ideal.

The idea is to include people who want to grow, learn, develop and take action. To do this, we offer courses, meetings, festivals and workshops. A school of life and exploration on the land of Yentamay. It also includes training programs for both youth and experienced farmers to inspire them and make them aware of the importance of investing in their own land and the use of sustainable, ecological farming methods.

Much has already been done AND there is still much to do before we can actually put the first seeds in the ground. A water distribution system is essential, for this, financial support is needed.

I have shown my decisiveness, perseverance, love and knowledge widely by successfully creating a garden of vegetables, fruits and herbs in a short time in Toubab Dialaw, in dry soil, full of stones, lying by the sea. That helped me to be self-sufficient and which the neighbourhood has enjoyed wonderfully.
Besides that I planted 1000 of trees for our communities in the driest places in Senegal.

We are ready for the next step.
YENTAMAY in Mampalago, Casamance is eager to bloom.

Will you join us?
