Hello! My name is Maddie, and I have created this fundraiser to support my cousin Tay, who is a young single mother of two children. Tay and I became good friends as adults and her and her kids have been a blessing to my life.

At present, due to some unpredictable circumstances largely out of her control, Tay has been living out of a hotel room in New Jersey with her three-year-old son for a year and a half and is now facing a custody battle for her five-year-old son, who she has not been able to see now for several months. It is a complex situation between multiple family members that has been quite disheartening.

Tay is a loving, hard-working mom who is very determined to better her circumstances for her children.

We have been working hard to make things happen especially with a pending court date and deadline for her current living situation. We have made a lot of progress.

After searching for affordable apartments that would fit her and her kids, we finally found one and she has been approved! We are now raising funds for the security deposit and first month’s rent which comes to a total of $4737.

We are hoping to raise this by December 22, at which point she can move into the new apartment.

At the time of this update (12/8/25), we currently have already raised $610 which have already gone to other necessities to improve the family’s circumstances. So our new total goal for the fundraiser is $5347. Any additional funds we receive will go towards the family’s ongoing stability.

The new apartment is very affordable for this area and a plan is in place for longterm stability. We just need your help to get her and her kids in the door!
