Together 4 Cameron: Support His Journey Against Brain Cancer

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Supporters,

I'm reaching out to you today with a story that embodies the spirit of resilience, faith, and the fight for life. My dear friend Cameron Powles, a devoted husband and father of two energetic 6-year old twins, has been battling the unthinkable—a diagnosis of grade 4 glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the most aggressive form of brain cancer . . . for the second time.

Many friends, myself included, have wondered how to provide tangible support. This GoFundMe has been created to meet that need.

There is no known cure for GBM. It grows fast and can spread quickly, so by the time it’s diagnosed, the chances for survival are low. The average life expectancy for glioblastoma patients who undergo treatment is 12-15 months and only four months for those who do not receive treatment. Only 5% of people with GBM survive more than 5 years.

Yet, in 2012, Cameron miraculously defied the odds. He survived - and then thrived - after his first diagnosis of GBM. Through surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, a strict nutrition plan, and unwavering faith and prayers, he returned to a thriving family life and career.

Cameron and his wife, Christine, adopted their twins, Jack and Cole, in 2017. The boys are full of life, enjoying soccer, hockey, wrestling, reading, and exploring the woods. Christine, a compassionate nurse, has been the pillar of strength for their family, managing her demanding job while caring for Cameron and their children.

Now, after years of being symptom-free, Cameron faces a devastating recurrence of the tumor. In April, he underwent another surgery to remove the tumor, but the battle is far from over.

Cameron is now undergoing chemotherapy, a strict nutrition and supplementation plan, and various holistic treatments to fight this aggressive cancer. These treatments, while crucial, come with a heavy financial burden. Combined with decreased ability to earn income, the situation is overwhelming for their family. Despite the challenges, Cameron and Christine remain hopeful, filled with faith and optimism for a positive outcome.

This is where we need your help. We are raising funds to support Cameron’s ongoing treatment and help alleviate the financial stress on his family. Every dollar you contribute will go towards:

Medical Expenses: Chemotherapy, nutritional supplements, naturopathic treatments, and other necessary therapies. Some treatments have coverage, many do not. We want to throw the whole book at this thing.

Living Expenses: Ensuring a stable and nurturing environment for Jack and Cole to thrive, maintaining their education, activities, and daily needs.

Additional Costs: Travel expenses for medical appointments, high-quality food to support Cameron’s nutrition plan, and any unforeseen expenses that arise during this journey.

Cameron and his family have recently relocated from Edmonton to a more affordable home in Spruce Grove to manage their reduced income and increased healthcare expenses. The emotional and financial strain is heavy, but their hope and determination are unbreakable.

Your support—whether through donations, prayers, or simply sharing this campaign—will make a world of difference in Cameron’s journey. Let’s come together to give Cameron the fighting chance he needs and to show Christine, Jack, and Cole that they are not alone in this battle.

Thank you from the depths of our hearts for your generosity, love, and support. Together, we can give Cameron the strength and resources he needs to overcome this challenge once again. #together4cameron
