Tofo Scuba Covid-19 Staff fund
Donation protected
Thank you for looking at our page.
Corona virus is already having a devastating impact on Mozambique's economy and our business which relies completely on the tourism industry. With all international borders closed and all bookings cancelled, we have now been closed for over 2 months and we still have 4 cases in our area.
Most of the client refunds have been repaid, but now we face another problem. Due to local law, all staff members must still be paid salaries even with the businesses closed.
Now listed as the 2nd poorest country in the world, the government does not have the means to help with unemployment funds or national insurance.
As Covid-19 has not even started here, we have no idea how long this is going to continue for or for how long we will be closed.
If you have dived with us before you will know the importance of the staff and how much we value them. So this is Tofo Scuba's pledge to raise funds for our staff salaries so that when we do re-open, we can with a full complement of friendly staff who most of you already know!
We are focusing our support on the 36 families who all relied on income from Tofo scuba. We know these families personally and helped the majority of them in 2017 after the cyclone. As some of you will remember our average wage here at Tofo Scuba is approx £150 per month.
We have set up this page to try and cover June & July salaries for the staff. We have covered the salaries since we closed on the 25th March but no income, unfortunately we can no longer support them.
As well as asking for donations here, we are having a FB raffle in order to try and raise £10,800.
Please go to our page to see these prizes.
As a thank you, each person who donates will get 20% off any activities booked at Tofo Scuba and will have a free sunset cocktail at Tilak Lodge.
So please donate and hopefully with your support, we can survive through this!
If anyone would like to make a reservation for the future, we are gladly accepting bookings and will freeze prices for 2 years on any package which is prepaid by August 31st 2020.
Once again, thank you for your continued support and hopefully we will be back on the water soon.
