UPDATE: Today September 22, 2016 my sweet husband and Mason and Dillon's rockstar dad passed away. He fought a hard, epic battle and although he is not here physically on this Earth he is here in memories in our hearts......
He now sits with the Lord! We will greatly miss him while we finish our time here on earth...but.....we will REJOICE in the day when we meet him again in Heaven!
Todd Zoretic is 42 years old and fighting a battle to survive. Please pray for him and help his family through this very difficult process.
15 years ago in 2001 Todd Zoretic was involved in a head on collision with a drunk driver. He was on the job doing a route delivery when a drunk driver crossed the line and hit him head-on. The drunk driver died on the scene, but Todd survived. He had to have his spleen removed, aorta repaired, pins and rods placed in his right leg. After months and years of hospitalization, surgeries, and rehab he was able to retain a semi functional quality of life and have 2 beautiful boys. That is until about 2 years ago. Due to his low immune system he became sick and was hospitalized. He had an aortic anuerysm and developed an infection in the graft around the aorta. He had to have surgery to repair the graft and months of IV therapy for the infection. Not only did he miss a lot of time due to his illness he was no longer employed as of October 2015 losing the only income for the household and all medical insurance and other benefits. January he was hired on to start a new job the first week of Februrary. Due to paperwork the start date was delayed by 1 week. In that time he became sick and ended back in the hospital vomiting blood. His condition was already critical but quickly became life threatening as he had a hole that developed in his esophagus as well as the aortic anuerysm had grown in size over night. He was rushed to surgery on February 12, 2016 for total reconstruction of his aorta and repair the esophagus. He suffered many set backs from that surgery. Since then he has been back in the OR multiple times and every time more critical. He was able to recover enough to be awake, alert, and regain most functions so he was transferred to a rehab hospital. Just a few days after being transferred he began vomiting again and was rushed back to ICU. In the days following right before Easter it was then diagnosed the hole had re-opened in the esophagus and re-infecting the aorta and the new graft and muscle from the previous surgery. His risk was much greater and survival was not likely. Surgery proceded and the Surgeon rebuilt a new aorta and re-routed his cardiovascular system to accomodate a new aorta on the other side of the heart away from the esophagus. The surgeon said he will not survive this and if he does it's a miracle. His wife and parents have been by his side while his 8 weeks in the hospital.
His wife is a stay at home mom that home school their 2 young boys. The family does not live local and has incurred additional expenses having to travel to Virginia to help with the boys and be there for Todd and his family. His condition is very serious. He is currently on life support so his body can attempt to recover from the 3 surgeries in the past week. The family is requesting any prayers and assistance at this time as they process these life changing events as all of their effort is assisting Todd through this recovery process to survive.
Thank you and God Bless
