Hello! My name is Shane and I have known Todd Canning for more than 25 years. In my life, Todd started out as a camp counsellor and then a camp director and then the builder of my very first computer to working in the same school board, to union president, leader, encourager, faith infuser and lover of Jesus. Todd has been like a Father to me. For many years, he has poured into my life and the lives of others and now, it is our turn to pour into his!
In 2024 Todd was diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer. A section of his colon was removed. Todd experienced chemo therapy and symptoms from chemo for the first time ever. Todd gracefully learned how to live life with a colostomy bag, blowouts, embarrassing moments and yet somehow still showed up and poured into the lives of others. Todd's colon was eventually reattached and the healing process began!
Todd even had a lobectomy after cancer cells from his colon moved to his lungs. This meant radiation. Another new learning and journey for Todd. Yet, through it all Todd remained rooted and grounded and fastened to Jesus and life as Todd knew it was slowly starting to return to normal. Things were starting to heal, repair and function again.
CT scans showed no signs of cancer. The chemo had worked. The bloodwork was impeccable. Todd was even getting ready to have the "return to work" conversation with his doctors.
Then in an instant things changed. Bloodwork showed alarming numbers. Something inside of Todd's body wasn't right. More bloodwork, more CT scans. The doctors confirmed that the "cancer is back and has moved around throughout your body." Not just one location but many. But God!
The journey on the cancer road continues. More chemo, more radiation, more tests, more bloodwork, more side effects, more monitoring, no work, sleepless nights, mind racing and a million questions.
Along with all of that comes financial burdens, instability and the inability to work while going through a very long road of treatment and recovery. Todd will be on Long Term Disability for the near future and while this provides some financial stability it's just not enough.
This is where Todd needs our help! Won't you consider blessing Todd and sowing into his life financially during this very difficult and uncertain time. Let all of us come together and bless Todd just as Todd has blessed us. The funds that you choose to donate will help to cover ongoing living costs that continue to arise despite Todd being on the cancer road and not being able to work at this time.
The focus for Todd currently is chemo, radiation, managing side effects, resting, prayer, Tilley, repeat. Todd cannot be worried about finances at this time. His energy, strength and resilience is focused on fighting cancer.
Let us fight the financial battles for Todd! It's the very least that we can do!
Please prayerfully consider donating to a very worthy cause and to a man who needs our help now more than ever.
My prayer is that as you give, that would God bless you and may your cup OVERFLOW in Jesus Name!
If you are unable to give, I pray that God would bless you and your storehouse. I am also asking that in lieu of money that you commit to pray for Todd and his journey on the cancer road. The Lord bless you!
One thing remains the same and has never changed and His name is JESUS! You might not be able to see Him but be encouraged, Jesus is holding Todd's hand as together they travel on the cancer road.
Be blessed in Jesus Name!
Shane
