Todd’s Cancer fight…

Donation protected
To everyone that knows, loves and is following Todd’s cancer journey…

In April of 2023, Todd and Sandie were delivered the devastating news that Todd has a brain tumor – Stage 4, Glioblastoma IDH-Wildtype. As you can imagine, this was an unexpected, life-changing diagnosis that hit Todd, Sandie, their boys and our entire family hard. We’ve continued to update you through Facebook as much as we can, and we appreciate all the love, support, prayers and words of encouragement you have all provided over the last 6 mo’s.

We are now in what I consider the “coasting” phase with his diagnosis. He’s still doing chemo (on 5 days/off 23 days) but now it’s wait and see how his scans are in the next couple of months to see if chemo has been effective. Prior to his diagnosis, Todd and Sandie were in the early phases of retirement planning. Todd has been with Boeing for over 35+ years and retirement has been the topic of discussion for a few years. They were already considering a move to AZ within a few years but with the news of his cancer, it expedited and solidified their desire to be closer to their boys and family.

Here’s the hard part – asking for help. There are logistical challenges ahead for Todd to get the best medical care for this type of tumor. He will have to continue to travel to The Mayo Clinic in AZ every 6-8 weeks for his MRI scans. He may also need to travel to be eligible for upcoming clinical trials if none are available in Arizona, should a recurrence happen.

Sandie is now the sole caregiver for Todd, which takes her away from her job. Sandie is an event organizer with Scrapbook Expo. Her boss has been gracious enough to allow Sandie to work when she can. However, she is now limited in what she can do due to the round-the-clock care Todd needs. This could also impact her own income. Todd is no longer able to drive, has memory loss, has lost his ability to identify numbers and he has lost a lot of his peripheral vision/depth perception. We are hopeful this is all a result of the inflammation from radiation.

Along with the emotional toll this has taken on their family, we want to help ease the financial burden this has placed on them as much as we can by putting this GoFundMe together. They are unaware that I have done this but we would love to surprise them since they’d never consider asking for help.

I also want to be forthright and let everyone know what these funds will be used for:

  • Travel expenses: Airfare to travel back and forth to Mayo for scans as well as a car rental while in AZ.
  • Out of pocket expenses associated with treatment that insurance doesn’t cover.
  • To help with the cost of the move, hotel accommodations during the drive to AZ and gas.

We understand times are tough for all right now and understand if donating is not feasible for you. We would still ask that you continue to pray for Todd, Sandie and the boys.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of you for the unwavering love and support over the last couple months – it has meant a lot to our family.

Thank you for being pillars of strength during this unimaginable, difficult time. Any contributions collected will be put directly to Todd’s care, travel and moving expenses.
