Toddler and parents as they move from Afghanistan

In good news, this family will be arriving in Sydney on Tuesday 23rd August.

The fundraising will go towards them sourcing long-term accommodation.

Hello wonderful humans!

My name is Sam, and I'm fundraising for a small family that's moving from Afghanistan to Sydney.

The family comprises of a father, mother and a little girl who is about to turn two - pictured in the photo above. I'm keeping their name a secret for security purposes to protect them while they travel, as well as their families back in Afghanistan.

This family has been in hiding since the Taliban took over last year. Before then, the father worked as a journalist, in telecommunications and in politics. The mother has been a teacher and politically active as an advocate for women in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, they can no longer work and their home and possessions have been raided and ransacked by the Taliban.

It's taken about a year but I'm thrilled the father has managed to find a terrific job in Sydney. I'll also keep the employer private but a shout out to Kathryn Fleming for moving mountains and making the key introductions. The father's future employer has gone above and beyond to pay for flights and visas for the family, as well as short term accommodation. It's been extraordinarily moving to witness so much kindness. I also have no doubt he is going to excel in his new position and be 1000000% worth it.

There will still be some expenses to cover as the family arrive in Sydney and find their way in a new country. A home to furnish. Pantry to be stocked. The mother will be studying English.

Time's are tight for lots of people, so absolutely no pressure to contribute, But if you can, it would be enormously appreciated by this family.

I will keep the funds in my bank account and distribute once they arrive and set up bank accounts.
