Support Todd Intermill's recovery from a heart attack

Todd Intermill is the owner/operator of Motor Mender in Bruce, SD and 1st Assistant Chief with the Bruce Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department. He lives in Bruce with his wife, Kendra, and children William and Whitley.

On the evening of September 2nd, 2025, Todd was on the scene of a large barn fire in rural Brookings, SD when he started to feel tightness in his chest. After initially trying to work through the discomfort, he eventually decided a trip to the ER was necessary. Doctors at the Brookings ER determined that Todd was having a heart attack, and he needed to be transferred to the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Just as he was getting ready to be transferred via ground ambulance, Todd fell unconscious and stopped breathing. CPR was immediately performed, and he eventually regained consciousness after 3 shocks from an AED. Todd was then transferred to the Avera Heart Hospital via air ambulance (helicopter) where he was rushed into surgery and had stents put in to fix 2 blockages, one 100% blocked and the other 95%.

Amazingly, Todd was able to come home on Friday, September 5th 2025. However, this incident has resulted in damage to his heart - his heart is currently functioning at 25%. Doctors are hopeful that he will regain most/all of his heart function, but that will only happen with an extended amount of rest. This means he won't be able to work in the immediate future, and will likely need to ease back into working at his shop. So, in addition to the mounds of medical bills that will be coming his way, he will not be earning any money from his business while he recovers.

Todd is also an EMT and certified fire instructor and was previously a full-time firefighter/EMT with the Woodstock Fire Department in Woodstock, GA.
