Todd's stroke has taken a toll, and we need help.

In October 2020, Todd had a massive stroke. He spent many weeks in the ICU, and had a 12 hour open brain surgery. His temporal artery now flows through a hole in his skull, and feeds the damaged side of his brain. He now has both expressive and receptive aphasia, apraxia, and disarthria. This all means he can't speak, write or type. He has a very limited vocabulary, but most of it is incomprehensible. He requires 24 hour supervision, speech and physical therapy (weak right side leg and arm), his judgment was affected, he has cognitive damage and has trouble understanding simple instructions or conversations. He can't drive a regular car, so needless to say, he won't be returning to work driving a tractor trailer. We have applied for ssdi, but that could take months or even years. Now his health insurance is on hold, switching to COBRA, so we will be paying out of pocket for his next MRI and PET scan next week, as well as all of his meds. 

Todd grew up here, his father died in this very house. He worked so hard to buy it from his mom, fix the repairs that were needed, and maintain them. The loss of the Todd we knew has been devastating personally, and now is strangling us financially, and we need help. Todd has always been the perfect father, husband and best friend. Our loss is indescribable, he struggles daily with his losses and I don't think he would survive the loss of our home too. I have never asked for help, and had no intention of doing so...however I have to swallow my pride and do anything I can to keep things in place for him. He's done so much for us and so many other people. I know most remember him from the sheriff's office, where he saved countless lives, protected countless people and put his life on the line for others. Now he needs your help.
