I am organizing this fund raiser for Todd Grosz and his family for medical expenses. Todd is married to Tracee and they have a daughter, Bridgett and bonus daughter, Alayanna, both whom are in college.
In 2022, at 56 years old, a perfectly healthy and active Todd collapsed at work and spent the next few weeks in the hospital to learn he has developed a heart condition called sarcoidosis and needed a pacemaker. Since this heart disease is difficult to confirm and there is not a cure for it, he was sent to Mayo in Rochester MN to see specialists. He was there for a week and set home without doctors being able to diagnosis him with sarcoidosis without special tests that insurance was denying.
Todd went back to work full time and was active with very few issues until March 2023 at which time he started to not be able to catch his breath. He went into the hospital to get checked out and was diagnosed with COVID-19. Within a week he was feeling worse and was brought back to the hospital.
After spending a week in the hospital he came home for less than 24 hours only to be rushed back to the hospital because his heart was not functioning properly. He was severely ill and was airlifted to Mayo where he is currently in ICU.
The clinic has confirmed he suffers from heart sarcoidosis and COVID-19 has damaged his heart beyond repair. In order to live an active life he will need a heart transplant. After a transplant he will have to stay in Rochester for a minimum of 3 months.
During this time Tracee has had to file for FMLA at her job and will not receive a paycheck until she is able to return to work. She has been working a few hours a day when she is not at the hospital.
This fundraiser is being set up to help the Grosz family with the medical expenses that they are acquiring having to pay for housing, meals, airfare (both daughters need to fly in to see their dad), and Uber rides to the clinic when the shuttles do not run. These are just a few of the expenses that are building up so they can be with Todd.
Todd is an amazing man who helps family and friends without a second thought or asking for anything in return. He is so positive and ready to face this challenge head on. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.
Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will help his family be able to stay at his bedside while he heals.
Because ICU does not allow flowers or gifts to be sent to the patient but you can send a note or a card if you would like to keep in touch with Todd to the following address.
