Todd & Darla's Cancer Battle Fund

Hi, I’m Debbie. I’m raising funds to support my parents, Todd & Darla. Last summer, Darla started experiencing debilitating pain in her right shoulder and arm. In the fall, tests revealed that she did not have a shoulder injury, but in fact had a tumor between her lung and shoulder blade.

Doctors discovered that she had 3 tumors - the one in her chest, one in her skull, and another in her lung. The one in her lung caused her lung to collapse, resulting in several surgeries and hospital stays. Doctors began a treatment regimen that included radiation and chemotherapy. They were hopeful that the treatment would send the cancer into remission.

In January, at her two-month checkup, they discovered that the treatment had not worked as hoped. The cancer has now spread to several more locations and sent small tumors throughout her skin.

With no medical cure available, Darla has made the decision to enter hospice care. Her spirit is strong, and she is not without hope. She and my dad are trusting that God will meet them in this difficult time.

Cancer treatment has been very costly. Even with insurance, they now have many thousands of dollars of medical debt. Unfortunately, Darla’s time on earth is limited. My dad is still working as much as possible while caring for his wife. He’s facing the reality of what stands before them, and the debt that will remain into the future.

I’m asking if you feel led to help, to do so. My dad intends to continue working as much as possible right now. He has a plan in place to support himself and will return to work even after Darla moves into the afterlife. The total amount of the fundraiser would be used solely to pay off the debt from the cancer treatment and resulting hospital stays, so that he does not have to carry that burden.
