UPDATE....Todd has has two surgeries in the last 4 months. One a colon resection. Currently Todd has an open abdominal wound, he must pack it twice a day with saline and gauze. He's hoping it will heal. But there is caution with the surgeon.
The medical bills have gone over 225 thousand now. Not being able to work has made an impact. But he is hanging in there.
I am a friend of Todd's who lives in West Seattle. He spends a lot of time in my home .On March 7, 2018, Todd was seriously injured at work. His recovery is still not complete. During this recovery, a bone tumor was found in his right arm. Though not malignant, it was another thing he did not need.
Fast forward to September 2019 his surgery for hip replacement was scheduled for November 4th. Mid September Todd notice pain in his lower abdomen. Todd believed it was residual pain from his hip. After extensive severe pain and swelling the the abdomen, he drove himself to the hospital. Within 2.5 hours, Todd was admitted to Swedish hospital with a serious infection. When released the diagnosis was abdominal abscess with sepsis. Todd's hip replacement surgery was canceled.
The last month Todd has battled this infection. Todd is diabetic which is affected by the infection. Todd is looking at possible surgery for the infection and his hip surgery postponed. Todd now walks with a cane and it has become harder and more painful to walk.
The 5 day hospital cost over 50,000 dollars. Even with insurance, there will be a large out of pocket expenses and missed work time.
Todd serves on the West Seattle Arts Council. He has created award winning parade floats for West Seattle businesses . He has also participated in the West Seattle art walk for over 10 years.
Todd's always willing to lend a hand with out requesting anything in return. Now it's our turn to lend a hand.
