Humans Are Humans. Minnesota Is Showing Up.
Right now in Minnesota, many of our neighbors are being forced to make impossible choices.
Because of the increased ICE presence in our communities, people are staying home to protect themselves and their children. That choice, made out of love and fear, often means lost wages, unpaid rent, empty fridges, and nights filled with worry.
I have spent decades working along side the immigrant community. These are good people. My people. Our people. Parents. Workers. Neighbors. People who want nothing more than to go to work, pay their rent, and care for their families. And boy oh boy, would they rather be working.
I have lost count of the requests for help. They come in every hour of every day. Single mothers supporting multiple children. Families suddenly torn apart and struggling to survive. Children carrying burdens no child should have to carry.
Together with a small, volunteer-powered community, we are serving people as fast as we can, with as much love and hope as we can. We are helping with rent, groceries, and basic needs.
We are moving quickly, quietly, and with dignity. We are reminding people that they matter.
But the list keeps growing.
Minnesota is full of love. And I know there are people here, and people watching what is happening from afar, who are asking the same question: How can I help?
This fundraiser is one answer.
Every dollar raised goes directly to mutual aid for families impacted by the ICE presence in Minnesota. It helps keep people housed. It helps keep food on the table. It helps families get through today without having to risk everything just to survive.
My list grows every hour. But I believe this deeply: together, we can do this.
Today, we are all Minnesota.
If you are able to give, thank you. If you are not, sharing this is also an act of care. Every bit of love matters.
With all the love in my heart.
