Hi there- I'm Tobi, a trans artist and for my birthday this year I want to get the rest of my tax debt fixed and be able to store some money away to move in with my partner!
After getting laid off in 2023, I acquired some state tax and other related debt that was hard to pay off due to job and income insecurity. It wasn't until last year that I finally found a job I could hold for more than a couple months.
However, the time spent in and out of employment caused me to focus on immediate expenses to keep my car paid for, keeping my lights on, and a roof over my head. This left my other debt on the back-burner.
While I'm still employed, my hours are sometimes inconsistent. My debt has caught up with me and the state is asking for a lump sum, instead of incremental payments that I've been making. On top of this, state taxes have also impeded my ability to get my car registration up to date and that affects my livelihood. I need my car to get to work!
This is where I'm asking for help. My savings have been depleted and I am not in a position to drop that much money all at once.
My state taxes + late fees are $3500 and updating my registration will be $750 to get it up to date.
Fixing this will also give me the freedom and more financial wiggle room to move across the country to start a life with my wonderful partner. We plan on splitting the cost of moving at around $2,500 for each of us. As much as I'm excited to move, I need to get my other debt taken care of first.
Having this burden lifted will be an immeasurable relief as it's been a constant on my mind for the past few months with little ability to take care of it in full. This has been something that I have been trying to tackle alone and has been an immense source of stress.
There are so many people struggling right now and existing in the US is getting more and more expensive for so many people. Anything given is a blessing and is going to free me from a pressing burden of which the stress has affected so many parts of my life, including and not limited to continuing to make art, getting my life together and giving back to the community in kind.
Thank you for reading, sharing, and thank you ever so much to those who have something to spare.
