Our sweet cat Toast, who has always been a strictly indoor kitty, somehow broke out of our window screen during the night and suffered a heartbreaking injury. We searched for him nonstop until one of our neighbors found him, bleeding from his mouth. We rushed him to the emergency vet immediately, terrified and praying he would be okay.
The vet believes he may have been hit by a car or something similar, which caused bleeding in his lungs, a slightly unhinged jaw, and a broken canine tooth. Hearing that was absolutely devastating for us.
After a long, emotional night at the emergency clinic, Toast is finally home and resting. He’s on several medications to help with pain, infection, and healing, but he’s still struggling because he can’t fully close his mouth and eating has been difficult. The vet explained that the remainder of his broken tooth will need to be surgically removed by a dental specialist to prevent further pain or infection.
We’ve already paid $880 for his emergency care, which included X-rays, blood work, medications, and stabilization. The dental specialist estimates his surgery will cost between $2,000 and $3,000 depending on how extensive the procedure needs to be.
Toast means the world to us. He’s such a gentle, affectionate cat who fills our home with so much love and warmth. Seeing him in pain has been incredibly hard, but we’re doing everything we can to help him heal. Any amount you’re able to contribute, even just a few dollars, will make a difference in helping us get him the care he needs to recover fully.
We also ask for your continued prayers that his healing continues smoothly, that the medicine helps him stay comfortable, and that he makes a full recovery.
Thank you so much for all the love, support, and kindness. It truly means the world to us and to our brave little Toast.
