Hello! Toast’s tiktok has taken off and we have been asked to make a gofundme as some people feel safer donating to those and we understand. When I started the tiktoks for toast I wasn’t intending on anyone donating money, so please don’t feel obligated to give. We do not want anyone giving more then they can afford, we are Toasts owners and at the end of the day if that means we get an extra job to help pay this bill off we will. We promise to use all of this money on toasts vet bills, if any money is left over we will use it for dietary food for him or other needs for toast, none of it will go to us. You guys are donating to Toast not us. I thank each and every one of you for whatever you can give.
Full Toast Vet Details:
For a very in depth history I would suggest checking out all our tiktok's from Saturday 1/13/24 on as that will have more details. This process has been a weeks worth of issues so I will be summarizing all of it here:
Saturday 1/13 - We noticed Toast sleeping/lethargic in his litter box, normally he sleeps with us every night and wakes us up everyday so this was alarming. We called an emergency vet and rushed him in about 6:30am. Their conclusion was a urinary blockage, they did the procedure to clean said blockage, and monitored him in the hospital until 8pm that night when they closed
($2260 Bill). So we drove 1 1/2 hours away to their other location open 24/7, there he continued to receive care and was discharged Sunday 1/14 around 4pm as they felt the blockage was gone as he was producing urine and getting back to normal ($1,470 Bill).
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - Toast seemed to slowly act more like himself, he ate normally and was intaking water regularly. He was still very urine incompetent, so after eat pee we washed him up to prevent urine burns.
Thursday Night Midnight - I got home from work and felt like Toast looked more sleepy, reluctant to snuggle or sleep by us, and he started spending more time downstairs laying by his little box again.
Friday Morning (when this is written ) -
My mama heart was just not feeling right, he seemed hot, more lethargic, not opening his eyes, hard to wake, very “out of it, and overall I just could tell something was wrong.
I called his normal vet and they scheduled an appointment for 2pm, but quickly Toast kept declining, I called back and with the continued decline they told me to rush him in. I wrapped him in a blanket and rushed there. They assessed him, and stated that they saw free fluid in his belly and that would mean a $12k Surgery at the emergency hospital we had taken him to before, so they discharged him ($460 Bill). We drove him back up and waited for multiple hours, they let us know he was very sick and would maybe not make it. They went over CPR consent, and had some very real talks about maybe having to call it at some point. We kept our minds on doing what was best for Toast. We had hope, but we didn’t want to make him uncomfortable if it was inevitable he would pass.
An hour passed and they came to give us the relieving news they didn’t see a laceration or free fluid. They did confirm an infection and a very high fever of 105. They confirmed that they found a stone in his urethra, and that that most likely was the cause of all these symptoms, they also called out worries more on a laceration as they stated they checked the urethra and other than irritation from the stone, the urethra isn’t in bad shape. They stated it would mean IV fluids, blood work, antibiotics (broad right now, more specific once blood work came back) feeding tube to make sure he gets nutrients (as he’s not eaten since Thursday night).
And that’s where we leave off for right now. Once they call us about the blood work and more of a plan we will update that here. We had to put another deposit down $5800 Bill.
Like I stated before, we are focused on what will make sense for his care, we will not under do it, and we won’t overdo it. We appreciate every bit of support in whatever way anyone can.
