URGENT SURGERY for 5-month-old kitten battling RARE TUMOR

Donation protected
JANUARY 12 2025: I'm so heartbroken to say this, but my partner and I have decided that it is best for Toast to provide him a humane euthanasia. Since the last update, (January 9), only THREE days ago, Toast's condition has gotten so much worse. His affected eye is now showing signs of blindness (fogginess in his eye); his third eyelid is no longer retracting; he paws his eye aggressively and I can just see how uncomfortable he is. We have not been able to raise funds in due time, and his illness is progressing faster than we can raise funds... We will be using a portion of the funds for his humane euthanasia, and the rest will be donated to other animals in need. This was absolutely not an easy decision to make, but a necessary one, for Toast's peace. He does not deserve to suffer and wait until we have funds raised, and he does not deserve to live with half of a jaw, and only one eye (if he were to get the necessary surgeries). These are not the conditions we would want him to live through. Thank you all for donating, sharing, and caring. Thank you.

JANUARY 9 2025 - FUNDS NEEDED IMMEDIATELY. TUMOR IS FATAL IF LEFT UNTREATED.

Hello, my name is Mariam Tawil. On October 16, 2024, my partner and I adopted a kitten, Toast (Tutu), after he showed up outside our doorstep for several days in a row. After debating for a day or two whether or not we should take him in, we finally decided we had to, because we could not resist his sweet demeanor. We instantly fell in love with this beautiful, sweet 2.5 month old kitten. He is the first kitten I have ever had the pleasure of caring for, and I have such a strong bond with this baby.

Once he was home and cleaned up, I noticed that he experienced pain when his right cheek was touched, as depicted by his loud yelp when pressure was placed on the area. I also felt a lump on his cheek. I admitted him to the Vet Hospital and after doing x-rays, they had concluded it was simply an abscess. They drained it, and Toast and I were sent home.

On December 25, 2024, however, I began to notice Toast's eye bulging out. Day by day, his condition worsened, and he began to behave lethargic on a daily basis. His condition continues to get worse. Immediately after I noticed his bulging eye, I took him to the vet hospital. They eventually concluded that he has an extremely RARE tumor called "feline inductive odontogenic tumor (FIOT)." It is described as "a rare, benign dental tumor that occurs in young cats and is characterized by aggressive local behavior." The tumor has now spread from his cheek to the top of his eye socket, which is why his eye is continuing to bulge outward (see photo at end of paragraph).

I am extremely heartbroken, and in shock at how extreme his condition has become within just 12 days. He does not do zoomies anymore, he does not play at all anymore.... He is not the Toast we knew just two weeks ago. It is unbearably heart-wrenching to watch him suffer in silence. All he does nowadays is sleep all day. He looks absolutely miserable, and it breaks my heart to come home to see him in such heartbreaking condition. I miss when he was full of energy, life, and play. He is only five months old, and we have yet to grow together. One of the things I was looking forward to the most, was being able to experience living a long happy life with my first adopted cat. I pray and trust that I will still be able to experience this with my Tutu, God Willing.

I am collecting funds so that I may acquire the proper and necessary care for my sweet baby Toast. Because his condition is so rare and aggressive, there will be several diagnostic testing, as well as invasive surgery, in which the doctors will have to remove a portion of his lower jaw. The tumor is continuing to spread atop his face, as you read this.

If it is of greater convenience to you to donate on Venmo, my Venmo is @murivm.

I trust that we will receive the proper funding to take care of our baby Toast. Thank you for reading, donating, and sharing. Thank you kindly, and may God reimburse you for your donation 100x more.

Thank you.

This picture clearly demonstrates the severity of his condition. His eyeball is protruding outwards, and there is a lump on his temple that is causing his eye to protrude.

This picture demonstrates his lethargic state... he is constantly lethargic and low on energy. It is heartbreaking to witness this drastic change in behavior and health in my baby Toast, in such a short amount of time. And I hate that he is going through this.

The tumor attaches itself to his lower jaw and teeth. As you can see, his lower jaw is severely out of alignment.

Here, you can see how his eye is protruding much more than his other eye, even though the picture was taken at one angle. It is clear how severely the tumor is pushing against the inside of his eyeball..
