To the Flame Film
Donation protected
Hi!
My name is Olivia Bulmer, I am a film student at Toronto Film School. I am currently working on my thesis, which has been greenlit by my school to be turned into a short film.
As a queer filmmaker, it’s really important for me to tell authentic queer stories, and that’s what I’m hoping to do with my film “To the Flame.”
As the writer and director of my film, I have to fund it myself. Finding a location to shoot this project within my very very small budget has proven to be a big hurdle. So I am turning to friends, family, and community for help.
Any donation is greatly appreciated, $5-$10 can go a long way!
A bit about the project:
In a queer speed dating event, Rowen (22) finds herself face to face
with the last person she expected—her ex, Eli (24). What
begins as an awkward and unexpected reunion quickly turns into
a night of playful banter, unresolved feelings, and unspoken
tension. As Rowen navigates the event, trying to move on and
connect with new people, Eli's presence lingers, pulling her right
back into the emotional connection they once shared.
After letting their temptation get the best of them, the two leave
the event together. As they sit outside together, Rowen confronts
Eli about their past, the pain they've caused, and the cycle of on again,
off-again turmoil that has left her emotionally drained. Eli,
torn between their affection for Rowen and their inability to
commit, ultimately leaves rowen feeling rejected, yet again.
As Rowen walks away - from the event and the relationship- she is
emotional. But she realizes that, despite everything, she’s going to
be okay. Although the night ends in a way that isn't what Rowen
wanted, she got what she needed. To break free from the cycle and
move forward on her own terms.
Making this project and starting my career with this film is my dream, any support that you can give means the world.
