To The Fireflies

Hi, I’m Kerri and thank you for taking a look at my page! I need your help to cover pre-production costs on my first feature fiction film, To The Fireflies. Through a mix of live action and magical realism, To The Fireflies reveals the power of creativity and imagination to heal.

I have made two successful award-winning documentary films that played at several festivals, were broadcast on cable and public television, and received distribution. After finishing my last documentary, A Lovely Day, I set out to write a narrative feature film that revealed some of the intimate ways girls and women experience trauma and oppression, while highlighting the resilience and strength inherent in the female spirit.

I recently made a short film proof of concept for the feature screenplay, and I am in the process of submitting it to festivals. Below this message I have posted an excerpt from the short film. To write my screenplay I drew from my own personal struggles and the experiences I witnessed first-hand in the lives of my female family and friends. While individually they may have been silenced or minimized, now they are part of collective entities channeled into the characters and narratives of my script.

This film could be a source of healing for countless girls and women. This creates a new reality where women’s stories are heard, seen, and honored.
