Help to rescue mom from Ukraine
My name is Irina. I have lived in Metuchen, NJ for 20 years, but my homeland is Chernihiv, Ukraine. Chernihiv was the one of first cities attacked by Russia.
It was bombed for 45 days with thousands of civilians killed, thousands of buildings destroyed.
At least 150,000 people escaped to become refugees in Europe or western Ukraine.
Our 83 y.o. mom is still in Chernihiv.
Since April we have been working on getting her to the US.
By this point mom has shipped here some packages with mementos, photos, paintings and books.
She prepared all documents and vaccinations for her two cats Bonka and Maska who will be coming with her.
And we are ready to come get her.
My daughter, Slava, and I are flying to Poland on October 13 and mom will travel to Warsaw from Chernihiv. October 20 we hope to be back on US soil.
It is a stressful and expensive venture. She will be living with us and we are preparing a room for her.
We are looking to furnish it with a bed, table, shelves, curtains to make it as comfortable as we can for her to start new life in the USA.
We would appreciate any help. Every dollar counts.
Thank you.
