Debbie’s story
In July 2025 Debbie had a lower spinal operation which seemed to go well; she was home, walking with a zimmer frame, however in September it all went down hill and she had to have another spinal operation which had higher risks. Unfortunately Debbie’s chances at the moment are 95% that she will be a wheelchair user which has been a huge shock.
We are raising funds to help support Debbie as she navigates this next chapter of her life. Debbie beforehand loved to play tennis at Clifton tennis club, has a career that she enjoys, had a great social life with her friends and family and of course loves going on holidays!
After 2 operations and several weeks in an acute hospital, Debbie is now in a specialist spinal unit learning how to rebuild independence and get stronger. She faces months of intensive physiotherapy, specialist medical treatment, and adaptations to her home.
Why we’re fundraising
When Debbie is discharged from Salisbury, she will need a lot medical help and rehab to be able to adjust and live independently. We want to help Debbie by setting up a fund that she can use to make her life a little easier. This might include:
• At least two Active Wheelchairs for around the home (one upstairs, one downstairs)
• Specialist equipment for the wheelchair
• Specialist physiotherapy and medical support
