To Save Molly's Life

Donation protected

Molly, a 39 year old divorced mother of 2, was diagnosed with AML Leukemia in May of 2017. Ever since that time she’s been steadily fighting. Thus far she’s endured many rounds of horrific chemo followed by a stem cell transplant which bought her a remission that lasted roughly 5 ½ months before relapse, followed by more chemo which was only semi successful. As it stands now she’s pretty much exhausted all of her treatment options at her Chicago hospital, so last week she went to MD Anderson in Houston, TX looking for a plan B. Right away she had to be hospitalized there with fever. Yet, the upside of this is, because of being hospitalized in their Leukemia Center, she’s met so many of their doctors and nurses, learned so much, and gained so much confidence there. And even more, they’re now offering her hope!

Docs at MD Anderson want to begin her on a test drug that they’ve been having success with that identifies and kills the cancer cells within her body while leaving her normal cells intact. Then as soon as all the leukemia is gone from both her blood and her bone marrow, they’ll do consolidation chemo, then follow with a 2nd stem cell transplant right away. This should prompt a 2nd remission, one that will hopefully help her regain her life, her health and vitality, and possibly buy her …decades.

The downside to all this, however, is that Molly would have to remain near MD Anderson, Houston, should she opt into their care for at least a 4 month stay. Too, she would require a live-in trained support person (someone to perform daily maintenance on her central lines, help with her meds and other needs as well as generally lifeguard her and get her back to the hospital ASAP if needed). I’m her Mom. I’ve already done this for her in Chicago; I’ve gone through this training, thus I will remain with her in Houston. Possibly my husband/her father will remain with us as well.

Because Molly’s already accumulated thousands of dollars in medical debt, because she’s unable to work and her monthly disability payments are so meager, and because she’s going to need financial help to make this move plus extended stay doable, I’m reaching out and pleading for assistance in her behalf.

Regarding Molly’s children, her oldest daughter is expecting her first baby now. Molly’s youngest daughter just graduated high school. Molly also has a step son also who’s still in high school. They still need her here! We need her here as well! There are so many more wonderful memories for her to make, for everyone to treasure. No matter how you look at this, 39 is just too young to die!

Anything you can give will be gratefully received! No amount is too small. Please help!
