Help Rebuild Whalebone Wharf – A Mid North Coast Icon Devastated by the May 2025 Floods

Hi, my name is Joel, and I have been the proud owner of Whalebone Wharf Restaurant in Port Macquarie since 2022.

Like so many others across the Mid North Coast, Taree, and the Central Coast, we’ve been devastated by the May 2025 floods. My heart goes out to every person and business affected — this has been a shared tragedy for our whole community.

I’m fundraising to rebuild Whalebone Wharf and reopen our doors as soon as possible. We sincerely need your support to help this iconic local treasure, which has been part of Port Macquarie’s history since 1971, survive and thrive once more.

Set on the edge of the beautiful Hastings River, Whalebone Wharf has long been a place where locals and visitors come together — to celebrate milestones, share family meals, and enjoy the best of our region. But because of our scenic riverside location, we cannot get flood insurance. That means every time nature turns, we’re left to shoulder the full cost ourselves.

This latest flood has caused extensive damage. The funds raised will go directly towards replacing:

• Bar and kitchen fridges

• Floorings and furnishings (chairs, washers, bar equipment)

• Lost food stock and supplies

• Essential kitchen and service equipment

• And support the relaunch and reopening of our restaurant

Most importantly, your help will also support the ongoing employment of our amazing local staff, many of whom have been affected personally by the floods too.
