To relocate & rebuild a kiln shed and kilns
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Joseph and I am a potter. I have trained and worked with various artists in the UK and Egypt. After setting up my own practice in 2022 by invitation of Arthur Stockwin, I have been making studio pottery for both Galleries and retail shops in Cornwall and Oxford.
Unfortunately, during a routine firing in my electric kiln, due to an electrical fault, a fire broke out and burnt down the kiln shed which apart from housing my three kilns, I also used to store work. This resulted in not only the destruction of my two electric kilns and the building, but also several crates of finished wood fired and salt glazed ceramics were lost.
I use the studio for both personal use and also for teaching workshops for individuals and groups. The kiln shed is a fundamental part of my work and not having one means I can't continue to produce studio pottery.
All funds will be used for firstly hiring a skip to remove all the waste, melted plastic, burnt wood shards of pottery and rubble. Specialist asbestos removal services are required to remove what is left of the roofing. Following this the remaining funds will be used for relocating the salt kiln and buying building materials to erect a simple kiln shed and also I hope to stretch it to a repair of one of two kilns which were ruined.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Kind regards,
Joseph
