To Put Aaliyah James At Peace

Sunday January 2nd, Aaliyah went into the hospital complaining of a headache.

Doctors justified it as stress and checked on her blood count. Her blood count was low in certain areas and they gave her a blood transfusion and sent her home.

On Tuesday January 4th, Aaliyah continued to suffer from headaches and was seen by her eye doctor. The eye doctor noticed after a scan that there was swelling on the brain. Aaliyah was then taken to Stratford hospital were they discovered that she had blood clots in her brain.

Aaliyah needed to be transferred to London hospital immediately, however was placed in an induced coma before they arrived.

While at London Hospital, Aaliyah underwent multiple scans, tests and suffered unexplained episodes.

On Thursday January 6th, the doctors informed Jermaine and Tina that she had suffered brain damage and the next 24 hours were critical.

Throughout the night, unfortunately Aaliyah endured further unexplained episodes and we were told she was not going to make it.

These are words a parent should never have to hear.

Family that were able to go was asked to come say their final goodbyes.

On behalf of the family, I want to thank the London Hospital and their team for everything that they did to make Aaliyah comfortable during her final days.

Aaliyah was always the old soul of her siblings and the mother hen of all of them.

I remember always going to Jermaine & Christa’s house and Ali sitting at the table sketching at the table. I would sit there and have a conversation with her while her siblings would run around or bug her for attention. She was always a joy to be around, always smiling and trying to help where she could.

I’m hoping we can all come together for Jermaine & Christa and help their family. Any help towards funeral costs and grievance counselling for all of them and the little ones would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone who has any memories of Aaliyah, the family would love to hear them! Please post!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

May you rest in the sweetest peace.
