Hi,

I'm a British Cycling ride leader who usually rides a recumbent trike. Unfortunately, over the past 12 months I have been unable to lead any rides, as I have been fighting infection in my right leg which has resulted in my leg being fused straight.

I am wanting to raise funds to enable the purchase of a used hand cycle which would enable me to get back out on the road. I have found the past months extremely frustrating as my limitations have not only impacted my physical health but my mental health.

I am grateful to Help for Heroes Choir and the South Sports team for their support, unfortunately with the ongoing staffing changes the activities are now limited.

Since launching this project I have had more surgery which resulted in a Transfemoral amputation of the right leg. This has resulted in my handcycle requirements changing. I am now looking at an add on adaption for a wheelchair. I have tried one out and desperately trying to get some funding to enable purchase. It has power assist as well as handcycle capability.

My recovery is going well but sometimes I get really frustrated as I am unable to get on with my life and do what I need to.
