Big Mead Update – Help Needed
We have already experienced higher temperatures this year than we saw at the same time last year, and we do not want to find ourselves in the same position again.
Water levels at Big Mead have already fallen by approximately 1 foot, and action is needed now to help protect the site through the summer months.
I have secured permission from the Isle of Wight Council to bring water tankers onto the site if required. We have a supplier ready to assist, with each tanker carrying 30,000 litres of water at a cost of £260.
If we act early, we stand a much better chance of avoiding the serious issues we faced last year.
The project has been fully endorsed by Ward Councillor David Llewellyn, who has pledged his support.
Now for the big ask: there is currently no budget available for transporting water to the site. We need to raise £260 per tanker to make this possible.
If you are able to help, whether through a donation or by supporting fundraising efforts, please get in touch:

Every contribution, no matter how small, will help protect Big Mead and the wildlife that depends on it.
Thank you for your support
