My husband is currently being held in immigration detention at Delaney Hall in New Jersey. He is the breadwinner of our family, and since his detention, our lives have been turned upside down.

I am now effectively a single mother caring for our 18-month-old baby. I do not have a stable or full-time job, and I do not have anyone who can help look after my daughter so that I can work consistently. Every day is a struggle just to meet our basic needs.

We are urgently raising funds to pay the remaining balance of our immigration lawyer’s fees and to cover the application for residency to obtain legal status in this country. Without this legal support, our family faces devastating consequences.

If I am unable to pay these legal fees, I am at risk of being deported to my home country. I do not want to leave the United States. I want to stay here and give my daughter a safe and stable future. Life in my country is extremely difficult — there is a severe lack of resources and opportunities, and returning would place our child’s future at serious risk.
