To our friend Lisa, the richest woman in town...

Meeting Lisa at UC Irvine as a freshman in college was the friendship equivalent of love at first sight. Spending time with Lisa is like taking vitamins for my soul because she is always positive, energetic, supportive, and is probably the most loving human I have ever known. I know that I am not alone in my adoration of Lisa because she is surrounded by family and friends. Now, I am asking all of you to come together to really show her that we care.
As you probably already know, Lisa has been the victim of the most outrageous misfortune. In October her home suffered catastrophic flood damage due to a freak storm and negligent roofers. She had to move out of her home of 16 years, her living expenses tripled, her insurance company denied her claim, and the HOA and roofer’s insurance companies are fighting each other while nothing is being done for Lisa.
Being the strong person that she is, she handled it all, and continued to try to remain positive and crack jokes to lighten the horrible situation.
Then, her beloved dog Peanut was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma and passed away last week. Since the universe sucks, let’s do what we can to make things better.
If any of you have seen the classic movie It’s a Wonderful Life, you probably remember the last scene when George Bailey’s friends and family gather to give him money to help him in his time of need. His brother raises his glass and makes a toast, “A toast to my big brother George: the richest man in town.” Just like George Bailey, Lisa is in need of material wealth, but she is rich in friends. Let’s shower Lisa with generosity and love during the holidays because she deserves it!
