To Know Furch is To Love Furch

Hello, my name is Lindsay McGovern and I am setting up this Go Fund Me because my co-worker and very special friend is facing a critical challenge. Greg, known by his friends as Furch has been a Technology teacher at the Binghamton School district for over 30 years, with plans to retire this June. When Furch is not teaching he has works with his father in their construction business, which keeps him busy all summers long. In February he fell on the ice and broke his back, leaving him out of work for 2 months. Then he was diagnosed in April with Oral Cavity and Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma.

Furch has always been a hard worker, very determined, extremely creative, the biggest jokester, and always so very helpful with any needs a friend asked of him.

With the recent diagnosis of cancer, he is having to travel to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC for multiple appointments as you can imagine. He is in need of different tests, scans, and treatments which will include eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. Because of these treatments and tests, he will need to stay in the city for much of the time and of course insurance does not cover a good portion of these costs. Furch has a long road ahead and has not and is not able to work at this time.

Now the opportunity to tangibly give back to Greg and bless the Furch’s as their lives are entering a monumental chapter. It is an understatement to say it will now, more than ever, become a financial mountain to climb. Because of the loss of income any donations would benefit him and his family. The donations will go to cover medical expenses not covered by insurance and even more immediately to cover living expenses while in NYC and to pay for the ongoing costs for travel, and just regular bills.
